Curriculum Introduction

We seek to develop 21st century competencies in our students through the teaching and learning of English Language to enable them to be empathetic communicators, discerning readers and creative inquirers.

Our Signature Programmes:

Morning Programme

Students begin the day by completing morning worksheets which are aimed at building knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and honing their language skills.

Hai Experiential Week Programme

Our lower secondary students are engaged in various activities such as readers’ theatre, oral communication skills workshops and debates to hone their oracy skills.

Sec 2N1 students used the app “Kahoot” to teach their peers about Idioms

Secondary 3 English Programme

The Secondary Three students take part in several fun activities which inculcate in them a love for the language. Some of the activities include correcting popular celebrity tweets, acting out quotes from famous stories and even creating their own unique scripts to silent videos.

Secondary 4 English Programme

Students of graduating classes are given opportunities to have timed practice exercises and simulated oral exam preparation exercises.

To enable our students to gain a deeper understanding of their texts, drama-based pedagogical approaches such as tableaux and hot seating are employed.

Our lower secondary students develop a love for literature through various projects such as creating dioramas and writing poetry.

Our upper secondary students’ literary experience is enhanced through learning journeys which involve sensory trails and the watching of plays.

EL Teachers visited the Black Box at the Singapore Polytechnic

Teachers from EL Department also go on learning journeys to be equipped with the values, skills and knowledge to be effective practitioners.
