Archery

“To be phased out. There is no intake of Secondary One students from the year 2020 onwards.”

Introduction

Archery is a sport that demands active self-discipline and unwavering determination against ever-changing circumstances in any environment. Giving up is not an option for anyone who has established himself/herself as an archer. Adaptability and confidence are the measures of the skills of an archer.

In HSCS Archery Club, we train archers to develop commendable character in sports and society. We expect our archers to be respectful, compassionate and gracious towards people and environment. In our club, archery is not about hitting an ‘X’ in every shoot. Every Haisian archer is expected to be accurate and precise in their character, regardless of their accomplishment in the arena.

Golf

Introduction

Hai Sing Catholic School joins the Youth Golf Programme (YGP), a volunteer organisation presently under the management of Youth Golf Network Pte Ltd. The YGP has given many young school-going students the chance to learn the game of golf. Since its inception in 1997, some 4000 students from neighborhood as well as prime schools have benefited from its programme syllabus.

The website for YGP is http://youthgolf.com.sg.

Program

Students are placed into 4 levels depending on their golf ability – beginners, PC holders or Handicap holders. The programme syllabus develops the golfer from basics to excellence, encompassing areas in golf skills and course management. YGP organises 4 league games a year to expose the student golfer to competitive golf. Additionally, handicap holders will be representing the school in the annual National Inter-school Golf Championship.

Volleyball

Introduction

TheHSCVolleyball family has been a long standing CCA in the school where it has been able to draw the interest of many students from the Sec 1s every year.  The CCA is overseen by 4 teachers and together we have worked out a very intensive and effective training program.

Our coach has been instrumental in enhancing the sport through physical and even theory lesson. The commitment is evident and translates to the students as seen from the high attendance rate in the CCA. Regular friendlies are conducted to ensure the students are ready to handle the main competitions.

Though the regular trainings have been tough and physically challenging, volleyball players have always shown tremendous commitment and determination, doing their best. In fact, the hours put in have brought the team closer together as they all strive with a common goal in mind – to win competitions and do the school proud. Their team spirit and the camaraderie has been exemplary.
