Robotics & Engineering

Besides Applied Learning Programme during the curriculum time, the Robotics Club in Hai Sing Catholic School provides the additional platform for students to venture into STEM related area.  The platform includes training and competitions using VEX and LEGO.

Through learning, training and competitions, the Robotics Club in Hai Sing Catholic School exposes and develops students technically so that they will be 21st Century ready learner.  In the midst of doing students research and document their thinking, the students turn their thoughts into plausible solution.  The Robotics Club in Hai Sing Catholic School embodies and cultivates values of perseverance, team work and attentiveness to fine details.

DSA Criteria:


Robotics & Engineering is open to all Primary 6 pupils who have two or more of the following competencies.

 

Competency One                  :  Robotics building and programming skills.

Competency Two                  :  Awards in Robotics, ICT or Science-related competitions.

Competency Three               :  The student must obtain at least a Very Good conduct grade with relevant leadership skills during the last 2 years in Primary School Education.

Achievements


2019

Twenty five members of the Robotics Team took part in Singapore VRC National Championship held
in School of Science and Technology on 1 st and 2 nd February. The game objective of VEX changes
every year. The objective of this year’s game is to attain a higher score than the opposing alliance
(two teams) by flipping caps, toggling Flags, and parking robots on the platforms.

The robotics team trained tirelessly in preparation for the competition. In addition to learning
valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, communication,
collaboration, project management, and critical thinking.

Along with prior experience from Asia-Pacific VRC Championship, the robotics team performed well
and clinched the following awards:
